It is dark, we hug and squeeze each other strongly. “Have fun!” I hear and then repeat with little conviction. My heart is racing, my insides are playing twister and it seems like there are loads of dots and colours in there...

But I know that once we will have started, I will get into the zone, the altered state of play.

Play is not “ordinary” or “real” life. It is rather a stepping out of “real” life into a temporary sphere of activity with a disposition all of its own. It doesn't have a particular purpose, it is born by curiosity and exploration.

It is the spontaneous desire to get ourselves out of gravity, it is our internal narrative that is our individual story.

Above all, there is an emotional state associated with play as an ALTERED STATE of consciousness, with a unique deployment of attention, altered experience of space and time, and apparent total immersion.

Play occurs in the 'potential space' between inner and outer realities.
